Nature: Gene therapy: Genie in a vector

For the Haemophilia supplement produced by the Nature Outlook team at NPG, I wrote a feature piece about gene therapy for haemophilia A and the challenges that scientists are having to create one. Gene therapy: Genie in a vector describes clinical trials that have been finding therapies for haemophilia B, the less common version of the disease but easier to treat. Scientists have been experimenting to find a vehicle that could deliver a therapy to the affected genes, but finding one that fits all the important bits in it has been difficult.

As this was a field that I hadn’t covered before, it posed a considerable challenge, but one that I welcomed. It was an opportunity for me to stretch myself and posed the right questions to experts, making sure that I conveyed the complex biological information correctly.
